Who We Are
Andrew Solis is a Professional Dog Trainer, servicing the NYC area.
Born to Salvadorian parents and raised in Los Angeles, he realized an innate connection to animals and began rescuing dogs, cats, and other wildlife as a young child and has never strayed far from his true calling.
Andy is certified in Relationship Based Behavior Modification (RBBM) by Nelson Hodges (TX) and was mentored by Blake Rodriguez, owner of Dream Come True K9 (NY). He is proudly affiliated with Korean K9, a non-profit dog rescue organization that saves dogs from the meat trade, puppy mills, and high-kill shelters in South Korea.
Andy’s training style is balanced and not cookie cutter. He considers each individual dog in a holistic manner and tailors a program unique to the dog in front of him. He is known for his special skill in handling the beautiful, but sometimes mysterious, ancient dog breed: Jindo.
Many of the rescued dogs Andy works with have experienced extreme trauma and are in desperate need of behavior modification and rehabilitation to move out of states of excessive fear, reactivity, aggression, and mistrust of humans and themselves. As a broad-spectrum trainer, Andy works with any dog, any age and teaches basic obedience, leash walking, stopping nuisance behaviors (jumping, barking, etc) and helps pawrents build strong relationships with their dogs and…. of course, he loves working with puppies- because every dog deserves training!
In his free time, Andy enjoys cooking vegan delights, camping, queer artistry, cycling, and gardening with his partner and their pack of rescues; Jolie (Springer Spaniel/Pit), Louie (Hairless Chihuahua),
Ruby (Jindo/Jack Russell) & the mighty Miro (Maltese).
